About
detect & defend home inspections, llc
We are a veteran owned business based in Upstate New York that provides pre-listing, presale and post-purchase home inspections throughout Jefferson and surrounding counties. We also offer well flow test, water quality tests, septic dye tests in addition to my home inspections. Generally the inspection will take 2-3 hours, but could take longer depending on factors such as size, age, and condition of the house. Each client receives a clear and concise, detailed report that includes digital photos and prioritization of issues. Electronic reports are sent out within 24 hours of the inspection. Once the report is sent we will coordinate a time with you to go over the report and answer any questions either by phone or a video meeting. We are always available for any questions you may have after that meeting as well.
Our mission is to detect the deficiencies in the house in order to defend you from purchasing a house full of problems and the costs that come with them.
about the owner
I was born and raised in Hudsonville, MI and joined the Army in February, 2001 at the age of 18. After basic training I attended Airborne School and was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. From there the Army sent me to Fort Wainwright, Alaska, back to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, then to Fort Polk, Louisiana, and finally to Fort Drum, New York. I served 2 tours in Iraq and 2 tours in Afghanistan along the way as well. I currently reside in Adams, New York and have 4 awesome kids, one of which is attending the Culinary Institute of America to become a pastry chef!
I decided to become a home inspector after my Army career because I have to love what I do. I have a passion for anything related to a house, building, fixing, improvements, etc. I love to help others and can do just that as a home inspector. I love not sitting in the same place all day everyday, so being a home inspector is the perfect fit. I’ve owned a home where the inspector missed some major deficiencies and had to pay out of pocket to get them fixed so that is also some of my motivation when I inspect your house. I attended the C.A.T.S. of Syracuse Home Inspector course which consisted of 1oo hours of formal classroom training and 40 hours of hands on training in the field on actual houses.
